Rice Flour Puttu | Steamed Rice flour cake | Video recipe | Step by step Pictures

Puttu is one of the famous kerala breakfast recipe.They mostly have it with green gram  and papad.But i simply love to have it with banana and sugar.It east taste too good with kadalai curry.For non-veg lovers,the previous day fish curry will be awesome.
Preparation time: 5 mins
Cooking time: 10 mins
Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour-1 cup (either home made or store brought,i used home made)
  • Water-as needed
  • Salt-1\2 tsp
  • Grated coconut-1\2 cup



Method:

1.Add rice flour and salt in  bowl,mix well.then slowly sprinkle water in such a way when you make balls it hold it shape then crumbles when  you press harder.This is the right consistency.

2.To the puttu maker first add a layer of grated coconut then the prepared dough then coconut and so on and finally complete it with a layer of coconut.

3.Steam it for 5-8 mins.  or till steams comes out from top.When done using a ladle  press it from back .



Serve with kadalai curry or simply with sugar & banana.



Note:

1.If you don't have a puttu maker steam them in a steamer /idli maker.

2.In the same way you can make puttu with wheat flour,ragi flour.yellow corn meal,oats,etc.In these cases dry roast them and make.
