Betel Leaves Rasam | Vethallai Rasam

We would have seen grand parents chewing this betel leafs after lunch.Once for a while i take pan from the pan-wala outside restaurant after having heavy lunch.This pan leaf/betel leaves help in digestion.During summer I had plans to make paan ice icream must due to lazziness i didn't try but i promise will try and post next summer.This leaf also cures cold,so next time when you are left with some of this leaf try this rasam.

Ingredients:

To grind1;
  • jeers seeds-1 tsp
  • coriander seeds-2 tsp
  • whole pepper-1 tsp
  • Garlic pods-2 r3


To grind 2:
  • Betel leaves-2
  • Tomato-1 medium


Other ingredients:
  • turmeric powdr-1\2 tsp
  • tamarind-small lemon size
  • Salt to taste


To temper:
  • Oil
  • mustard
  • curry leaves




Method:

1.Grind all the ingredients in  1 & 2 separately.Soak tamarind in water and extract juice.



2.In bowl add both ground paste,tamarind juice,turmeric powder,salt and mix well.

3.Then switch of the stove.When it starts to boil switch.Them temper it with the ingredients given .



Serve for hot steamed rice with some spicy side dish.
