Beef Mappas | Beef Cooked in Coconut Milk

Beef is a meat which i prepare more often after chicken while mutton is least preferred in my house.This recipe when i saw it here want to try it & it was a super doper hit.Do give a try once & i"m damn sure you will make it again and again.I usually buy  a  tender variety of beef (veal) which is very soft meat type compared to beef.


Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time:under 30 mins
Serves:2 to 3

Ingredients:

  • Beef(veal meat)-1\2 kg
  • Onion-2
  • Potato-1 big,peeled and diced
  • Carrot-2 small,chopped
  • green chilly-1
  • ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1\2 tsp
  • Pepper powder-1 r 2 tsp(adjust)
  • Coriander powder-2 tsp
  • Garam masala-1\2 tsp
  • Vinegar-1 tsp
  • Thin coconut milk-1 cup
  • Thick coconut milk-1\2 cup
  • Salt-to taste
  • Oil-1 tbsp
  • Whole spices-2 cardamon,2 cloves,cinnamon a stick

To temper:


  • Coconut oil-1 tsp
  • Mustard-1\2 tsp
  • Shallot(small onions)-2,chopped
  • Curry leaves



Method:

1.Clean the beef well in water.Pressure cook it with 1\4 tsp turmeric powder,1\2 tsp ginger garlic paste &salt for 2 whistle.(since i used veal variety i just kept for 2 whistle but if ur using thick beef type cook for 4-5 whistle till it is cooked well).

2.Heat oil in thick bottom pan,add in whole spices and saute till aroma comes ,followed by chopped onion with green chilly.Saute it till they becomes translucent.Add in ginger garlic paste,saute.Then add in cubed potato and carrot.

3.Add in all dry powders and saute sometime.Then add the cooked meat along with the stock.

 4.Then add thin coconut milk along with some water and cook till the vegetables are cooked well.Check for salt.Then add in vinegar and saute for a while.

5.Lastly add the thick coconut milk, cook for a boil and switch off.

6.Temper with the ingredients given and serve for rice,roti,appam ,bread or any main dish.

Note:

1.Use coconut oil for extra flavour.
