Eggless Hungarian Kiffles/Kipkels | Eggless Baking group challenge


For June month gayathiri suggested this sweet bread of Hungary for the Eggless Baking group.For eggless version i just used sour curd.I made just a small batch if it mini breads which just goes for only a mouth.



Preparation time: under 30 mins
Proofing time: 1 to 2 hours

Ingredients:


  • Flour/maida-3\4 cup + for dusting
  • sugar-3 tsp
  • salt-1\4 tsp
  • Sour curs-1\4 cup (adjust)
  • Butter/vanaspathi-1 tbsp
  • Instant yeast- 1 tsp
  • Dried Orange candid peel powder-1\4 tsp(i just powdered the dried peel)
  • Lemon zest-1\4 tsp
  • milk- to brush on top


For filling:

Mixed fruit jam

For topping:

Walnut
sugar




Method:

1.In a mixing bowl add from flour to lemon zest and mix well to make a  dough.keep it  covered to double.

2.After it has doubled punch it and make tow parts.Roll a part  and cut them into 8 equal 
parts.Keep jam in the larger part ,roll in form of a croissants.Do the same for all pieces.



3.Arrange them in a baking tray allow it to rise a bit.Meanwhile in a dry mixer powder walnut with sugar.

4.After it has raised,brush on top with milk and sprinkle the the walnut mix on top.Bake it in a pre heated oven at 180 deg C till it becomes brown on top.(i bake for 22 mins).



Serve for coffee/ tea.



Note:

1.Baking time may vary from oven to oven.

2.If using dry yeast first proof it and then use.
