Massi Curry | Dried Maldive Fish cooked in coconut milk | Side dish for Aapam /Idiyappam

Maasi /Dried Maldive fish  is one of the dried fish variety but doesn't smell like other dry fish one since this dried by smoked process.Its found in abundant in tuticorin area.You can stock it in your pantry as use easily in thoyagal as it taste excellent.

Ingredients:


  • Maasi- 1 big piece
  • onion,chopped- 1 big
  • tomato-1,sliced
  • green chilly,silted-2
  • ginger garlic paste-1\2 tsp
  • red chilly powder-1 tsp
  • coriander powder-1 tsp
  • garam masala-1\2 tsp
  • turmeric powder-1\2 tsp
  • coconut milk-1 cup
  • salt to taste



To season:


  • oil-3 tsp
  • cinnamon-1 stick
  • clove-2
  • cardamon-2


Method:

1.Powder/break  the massi/maldive dried fish in to small pieces.

2.Heat oil in a kadai,first season with cinnamon,clove and cardamon.then add onion and green chilly and saute till onion becomes transparent.Then add gg paste and saute till raw smell goes.

3.Add tomato pieces and saute till it becomes mushy.Then add in chilly ,coriander and turmeric powders and saute.



4.Then add in the maasi pieces,salt and little water,cook for some time.

5.Add in coconut milk and cook till everything blends wells.

6.Lastly add garam masala and switch off.



Serve hot with aapam which is an excellent combo,equally taste good with idiyappam.
