Pineapple Pulissery (Pineapple cooked in yogurt and coconut sauce)- | Kerala Recipe


Pulissery is nothing but vegetable cooked with spiced coconut and yogurt is added to it.We can use quite a few vegetable to make this pulissery.Last week brought a pineapple and was wandering what to make with it and made this.Its a sweet and sour dish we just love it.




Ingredients:


  • Pineapple-1\2 of a medium sized
  • Turmeric powder-1\4 tsp
  • Red chilly powder-1\2 tsp
  • Yogurt/curd-1 cup
  • salt to taste


To grind:


  • Grated coconut-1\2 cup
  • Green chilly-4-5
  • Cumin/jeera seeds-1 tsp


To temper:


  • Oil-1 tbsp(for authentic kerala flavour use coconut oil)
  • Mustard-1\2 tsp
  • Red chilly-1
  • curry leaves-few



Method:

1.Cut pineapple into small cubes.Cook it with turmeric powder,red chilly powder and water till it becomes soft and tender.

2.Meanwhile grind to fine paste under " to grind" using little water.

2.when the pieces are cooked add the ground paste and cook for 3-4 mins.

4.Whisk the curd well and add to it with salt.Let be it slow flame for a minute and then switch off.

5.Heat oil in temper kadai,temper with the ingredients and add to it.

Serve it with hot rice and some thoran.





Note:

1.While adding yogurt keep the flame very low,as the curd may curdle.

2.since i  ground the coconut into coarse paste You can see some coconut here and there.
