Homemade Granola Bars | Chewy Granola Bar | Healthy breakfast bars

I like nuts very much and love sweets made with them but my kids hate it,my daughter favourite is kaju/cashew sweets alone..This bar was in my list to do for a long time, yesterday i decided to make it and made it.It tasted good ,try out this healthy bar.
I slightly adapted the recipe from here.

Ingredients:

  • Oats- 1 cup(i used Quaker)
  • Corn flakes- 1\4 cup(used Kellogg's strawberry flavour)
  • Rice flakes- 1\4 cup
  • Butter- 1 tbsp
  • Honey- 1\2 cup
  • brown sugar- 1\4 cup
  • water- 2 tbsp
  • Vanilla essence- 1\2 tsp

Dry fruits & nuts:( came around 3\4 - 1 cup)

almonds,pine nuts,cashew nut,pistachio,walnut.
Dates,raisins & figs

Method:

1.Dry roast oats well and in the same pan dry roast corn flakes also and keep aside.
Then just roast the nuts and keep it.

2.In the same pan heat butter, then add brown sugar, honey, essence and water, boil it till if form bubbles.then add all the roasted ones with dry fruits and mix well till everything mix well.

3.Then spread it on a butter paper/foil and spread it,press it well and cool it.then cut into pieces.

4.Bake the pieces for 5-7 mins at 180deg C.(this step  is to keep it crispy for a long time).

5.cool it and store in air tight container.

Note:

1.The original recipe just used 2 tbsp sugar, but i increased it,so i got more dark colour bar.

2.You can add peanut butter also.
