Vella Kozhukattai

Vella kozhukattai

Kozhukattai is one dish which take part in many hindu's festival,this kozhukattai can be made in many varieties and shapes.This is one type which i my mom makes,she makes this shape only so i to follow it.I mostly don't make it for breakfast only for evening snack i make this.


Ingredients:

For outer cover:

  • Rice flour- 1 cup
  • Hot water
  • Salt- little

Filling:

  • Grated coconut- 1cup
  • Jaggery powdered-3\4 cup
  • Cardamon- a pinch

Method:

1.Add grated coconut & powdered jaggery in kadai and saute till jaggery melts and mix well coconut to become a thick stage.

2.Take rice flour in a bowl add salt,pour hot water little by little and mix with wooden spatula.

3.This form a non sticky smooth dough,don't add more water.Keep the dough closed.

4.Take a small amount of dough and spread on a cloth to form a round shape.

5.In the middle place a tsp of filling & fold the cloth in way so that the dough is closed.



6.Repeat the same process for all dough.


7.Steam it in idli cooker till done.When its done the outer cover will be shiny.




Delicious sweet  kozhukattai is ready.


Note:

1.Instead of vellam (jaggery)you can use ordinary sugar also.
